What to ask before booking
- How are consult fees and night/holiday surcharges calculated? Is there a public list or written estimate?
- Typical ranges for common labs/imaging — and is sedation/anaesthesia billed separately?
- Do you take chronic/senior rechecks? Can we send records and a meds list ahead?
- ER hours and referral path? Can non-urgent specialty visits be booked?
- Are Rx diets / chronic meds dispensed on site or external only?
4 more questions
- Visiting rules for inpatients, billing cadence, and itemised receipts?
- A third-party directory lists you as ISFM (feline) accredited — is that current, and are cat and dog waiting areas separated?
- Do you still take part in the local desexing subsidy scheme? What's the application process, coverage and out-of-pocket cost?
- With three registered vets on site, can we request a specific vet for continuity of care?
