What to ask before booking

  • How are consult fees and night/holiday surcharges calculated? Is there a public list or written estimate?
  • Typical ranges for common labs/imaging — and is sedation/anaesthesia billed separately?
  • Do you take chronic/senior rechecks? Can we send records and a meds list ahead?
  • ER hours and referral path? Can non-urgent specialty visits be booked?
  • Are Rx diets / chronic meds dispensed on site or external only?
  • Visiting rules for inpatients, billing cadence, and itemised receipts?

  • ER runs by triage (not first-come-first-served) and may redirect to other ERs at capacity — what are the redirect criteria and how are already-incurred ER charges billed?
  • Initial ER workups often run thousands to tens of thousands NTD, with hospitalization commonly 8,000–15,000+/day — can we get a written same-day estimate and daily cost updates during admission?
  • The clinic is cash-only (no card machine) — are there other payment or installment arrangements for large hospitalization bills?
  • Our pet is highly anxious at clinics — can we request a calming pill (given 1–2 hours before the visit) when booking?
  • Cardiology workups require 6–8h fasting plus prior reports and a meds list — what else should we prepare for cardiology/oncology bookings?
